McCOURT AND WOOD SCOOP UP THE BIG PRIZES ON DOWN CLASH

Cathan McCourt has hailed his first closed road rally win – by 46.3-seconds in a Ford Fiesta Rally2 – as a “longtime coming” following a start-to-finish victory ahead of both the Protyre Asphalt and Northern Ireland championship runners.

Following the first pass of the Drumaknockan and Buck’s Head stages, McCourt and Brian Hoy were seven seconds ahead of Protyre pacesetters Callum Black and Jack Morton and then more than doubled the advantage on the 8.6-mile Hamilton’s Folly stage.
