summer of fun
We’re packing comfy clothes, we’re switching off Teams notifications and we’re not worrying about how we look. Welcome to the summer of fun

From beauty admin to poses for social media, our approach to holidays needs a radical rethink, argues beauty director Hanna Ibraheem
“MUM, LOOK AT ME!” I shouted as I jumped into the pool. My attempt at a dive resembled more of a belly flop, and as I was submerged, my ears were hit with the loud rush of water gurgling. Kicking, I brought myself back up, breaking through the water’s surface. The office made it clear: somewhere along the way, holidays have become hard work in themselves. In the run-up to a break, we find ourselves run down. Various to-do lists grow longer, covering everything from haircut and waxing appointment reminders to colour-coded packing lists and links to the next-day Asos order we need to put in. And that’s before we even touch on how workloads seemingly double during the countdown to any trip, while our always-on culture makes it feel near impossible to switch off (hi, Teams notifications).
