My first quality-time encounter with Menahem Pressler was at his elegant Chelsea home in London, over afternoon tea. He was 95. He told me about his passion for teaching, his love of Debussy’s music and his diary for the next season, which included recital appearances in Madrid, Bochum, at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and at the Oxford Piano Festival (not bad for a 96th year!).
