recently read an article in the American magazine about a man who’d had trouble getting his anchor chain to self-stow successfully. He carried 40 fathoms (73m) of 3/8in (10mm) chain which was sensible for his 20-tonne schooner. His problem was that it stowed in the usual vee-shaped locker right in the bow, as far forward as it could go.
