MAX HEADS HOME THE LANDO HOPE AND GLORY

For the first time in nearly a quarter of a century, two British drivers stood on the Silverstone podium at the end of a World Championship Formula 1 race.

In front of a record-breaking capacity crowd, McLaren’s Lando Norris scored only the seventh podium of his career at Sunday’s British Grand Prix with a well-earned second place. He was joined by Lewis Hamilton who finished the 52-lap race in third with a record-extending 14th podium at the former RAF airfield.

You have to go back to 1999, when David Coulthard headed home Eddie Irvine to find the last occasion two British racers took to a Silverstone F1 rostrum.

But neither Lando or Lewis had the pace to match a dominant Max Verstappen who claimed his sixth-consecutive victory and Red Bull’s 11th win in a row.
