GOVERNOR Lachlan Macquarie, in 1813, sent George Evans to follow the paths of Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson. They were to explore further afield and find new land for the colony of Sydney whose population was now hemmed in by the Blue Mountains and were hungry for land.
