While 1970s-style hanging plant pots are fairly common, kokedama are something else entirely. Kokedama means “moss ball” in Japanese and is a floral art based on the bonsai tradition. Originally intended to display bonsai trees in an alternative way without pots, these beautiful moss-covered balls of soil introduced a new look for bonsai trees.
