Why you should be worried about AI voice scams
We’ve all received ‘robocalls’, which claim to know, for example, that we’ve been involved in an accident or are being investigated by HMRC. Most have a giveaway pause or click before they begin and use stilted, disembodied voices, so we know to hang up immediately.
The latest AI voice scams, in contrast, are often very convincing, because they clone the voice of a real person, such as a friend or family member, to trick you into handing over money.
