CHOOSING A FLASHGUN
Even choosing a flashgun can be a little confusing! You can choose from flashguns made by your camera manufacturer, or one made by a third-party. When it comes to flashguns it matters less which brand you choose and more that it’s fully compatible with your camera brand and model. This is particularly important with modern DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, where many of the flash’s functions can be controlled via the camera menu as well as on the flashgun.
