In this current day and age, it is not unusual to own a durian orchard spanning hundreds of acres since there are even those who own thousands of acres. However, it is definitely comes as a shock to learn that a farmer owned 70 acres of durian orchard around 10 years ago.
There is no information how the orchard was managed previously. Nonetheless, as a farmer who invested in durian cultivation on a large scale 10 years ago, we do admire the determination of its Tanggo Khor.
70 ACRES OF VAST GREENERY
“I believe that I was the first local farmer to plant durian trees on such a large scale,” said Tanggo Khor, beaming with a smile.
Tanggo Khor’s 70 acres orchard is located in Bentong, Pahang. Ten years ago, there was enough space for him to plan the landscape of his orchard upon his initial investment. This includes his decision on where to build trails, house, irrigation system hoses, etc. His previous farming experience in Cameron Highlands helped him plan the orchard in such a way.
