Celebrating DAME DEBORAH’S LEGACY

Her fun, vivacious personality, not to mention her strength and positivity, saw her propelled into the spotlight. But there was only one thing Dame Deborah James wanted to shine that spotlight on, and that was the symptoms of bowel cancer and encouraging all of us to check our poo. And even now, a year on from her death in June 2022, she continues to touch as many lives as she did when she was alive.

Diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016, she was determined to help other cancer sufferers with her brutal honesty and humour. She helped launch the award-winning podcast You, Me and The Big C and her Bowelbabe Fund has raised more than £11 million for research into bowel cancer.
