When Dame Deborah James was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in December 2016, it would have been easy for her to fall apart.
But as a wife, a mum-of-two and a deputy head teacher, that simply wasn’t Deborah’s way – as she told Woman in 2018, she wasn’t going to ‘go quietly’.
