A quick one with The Signatures

What would become universally known as Northern Soul grew organically from the original 1960s Mod scene and mirroring that evolution are The Signatures, a 10-piece Northern Soul tribute band, whose roots are entwined with the British scooter and Mod scenes.

Forming in 2009, The Signatures emerged from the Essex outfit Mod Life Crisis, who had been playing regularly at scooter rallies, Mod and club events in the south-east of England. A change in musical direction saw their numbers swell from a four-piece into a fluid 10-piece lineup and a new moniker of The Signatures. Now concentrating on being exclusively a 100% live Northern Soul tribute act, The Signatures’ sound evolved and an increased repertoire of classic tracks led to bookings across the UK.

As their reputation grew, The Signatures attracted the attention of ex-Wigan Casino DJ Russ Winstanley, who booked the band for
