De Hoop Nature Reserve, a world heritage site managed by CapeNature, offers natural beauty and biodiversity in abundance. Whales can be viewed from the shore, there are more than 260 species of birds (including the endangered Cape vulture), and the reserve is home to more bontebok, the rarest antelope in the world, than the Bontebok National Park. In addition, De Hoop protects some of the last remaining swathes of critically endangered Overberg Renosterveld.
