Flicking through the channels as my husband slept, it was getting late.
Feeling an itch on my right boob, I lifted my hand up to scratch it.
Only as I scratched my nails into the skin, I felt a lump.
Oh my God, what is that? I thought, confused.
Nine years prior, I had a cyst in the same breast and the surgeon had said it may come back.
But unlike a cyst, this lump was hard and didn’t move.
Feeling a prickle of worry, I gave my husband, William, 51, a shake – despite it being 2am back in August 2021, I needed reassurance.
‘I’ve found a lump,’ I told him. ‘Would you have a feel?’
Sitting up in bed, William gently felt the lump.
‘See the GP,’ he urged.
‘It’s just a cyst, William,’ I replied. ‘It’s in the same space as before.’
But I still had a niggle of worry which was why I woke William.
‘Go to the doctors,’ he insisted again.
