One fateful night

The Pacific Northwest, specifically the city of Portland, is often associated with rain. And that’s fair; Portland’s average annual rainfall is 36 inches, about an inch less than Seattle. Yet, there is so much more to Portland and the state of Oregon than precipitation. Oregon is the ninth-largest state in the United States, being slightly larger than the United Kingdom. Its highest point is the summit of Mount Hood, at 11,249 feet, and its lowest point is the sea level of the Pacific Ocean along the Oregon Coast. The state is split into eight geographical regions, and it lies in two different time zones. Its terrain is diverse, and its terroir is unique.
