When the world lost Tina Turner, it earlier this year. After leaving Ike, she gritted her teeth and went solo. “My dream was to be the first black rock ‘n’ roll singer to pack places like The [Rolling] Stones,” she said. And pack the stadiums she did. Tina’s formidable vocals drew millions to stadiums around the world. Her solo album, , sold 10 million copies. Her rock hits became beloved songs as well as anthems of female power. Tina died at her home in Switzerland, aged 83, one of the greatest performers of her generation.
