The music empire strikes back

In 2000, Markus Popp, also known as Oval, surprised the music world with a highly unconventional comeback. Inspired by then-popular ringtones, Popp reduced his compositions to a concentrate of their emotions. This resulted in O, al album containing 70 tracks, some of them only a few seconds short. In retrospect, this approach seems almost prophetic, as the trend towards radical brevity is likely to intensify for the foreseeable future. Responsible for this is video portal Tik-Tok. After all, no other provider can measure up to its understanding of how to exploit the monetary potential of songs.
