RECENT visitorstothecoastaltownof Aberystwyth will have no doubt noticed a very clean and‘new’-looking station at the terminus of the 1ft 11 ¾in gaugeVale of Rheidol railway.
The line is now in the final stages of a major £2.2 million improvement project, ‘Wales to the world’, funded in part by a £1.6 million European Regional Development Fund awarded in 2018.
Phase one was completed in 2019 when the station platform was opened, having been relocated by 590 feet from its previous location adjacent to the main line terminus.
