Heroes’ welcome for retro race history makers

Kirsten Neuschäfer has become the first woman to win a solo, round the world yacht race after winning the 2022 Golden Globe Race (GGR).

Not only did the South African skipper achieve her goal but she sank some 450 miles south east of South Africa. After just over 235 days at sea, and a slow final few miles in light winds, Neuschäfer crossed the finishing line off Les Sables d’Olonne in France at 2100 on 27 April.
