1 WHY WOULD I NEED A SMART PROJECTOR?
A smart projector is called this because it runs a full operating system and apps. Most commonly, that’s Android TV, although some models run a modified version of Android for smartphones. The main benefit of running a smart projector is that apps can be installed directly on the device itself. And for businesses, that adds versatility and means people don’t need to log in to personal accounts.
There are apps for showing photo slideshows, for streaming video from YouTube and for mirroring from an Apple device. Most models will either support Chromecast or Miracast for PC and Android, too. Naturally, there are also apps for the likes of Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, but Netflix is rarely supported for reasons we cover below.
All this means that smart projectors are far more versatile than dumb projectors, whether you just want to stream a corporate video on a loop or you want to wirelessly mirror your screen to give a presentation without hunting around for an HDMI cable and the inevitable lost adapter.
