Best cheap projectors that are surprisingly affordable

Big TVs are great and surprisingly affordable, but what you really need for a cinema-like experience in the comfort of your own home is a projector.

These compact devices can create an image measuring over 100 inches from corner to corner and display it on your wall (or a special screen) - all while costing less than a comparable TV.

There are some downsides. You’ll probably have to mount the projector on your ceiling, which can involve some serious DIY and calculations so it’s in the right place. You’ll also need to seriously darken the screening room - the brightness of a projected image is lower than a TV screen and it’s important to seal out ambient light so that it doesn’t interfere with the contrast and colours.
