South Africa's agriculture sector holds good potential for job creation

On 16 May 2023, Statistics South Africa produced encouraging job data on the country's agriculture sector. In the first quarter of 2023, about 888 000 people were employed in primary agriculture, up 3% quarter-on-quarter and 5% year-onyear. This is well above the long-term agricultural employment of 780 000.
