Rolex introduced an unexpected edition of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date at Watches and Wonders 2023 that it describes as “full of joy and energy”. Turn the crown and you’ll see why: you can choose to display one of 31 different emojis in the date counter, as well as encouraging words like “Peace”, “Faith” and “Gratitude” in the day counter. This whimsical attitude is emphasised by a vibrant dial constructed using champlevé enamelling in a jigsaw puzzle pattern. The hour markers are baguette-cut sapphires in colours that correspond to the dial.
