Respect!

I have been riding motorbikes for over 50 years (no wonder I am so tired) and I have let comments like ‘temporary citizen’ and ‘second-class citizen’ just pass me by. And also, all too often, when a group of you ride into a town, your first welcome is by the police – I have accepted that is just part of being a biker.

So it was a real pleasure to discover the Northern Irish town of Ballymoney, where motorbike riders are respected. The Town has a memorial garden to its fallen heroes, Joey and Robert Dunlop, and a museum celebrating the Armoy Armada, along with the British and Irish road racing. And what better way to finish the day but with a couple of pints at Joey’s Bay and a read of my favourite magazine, AMCN.
