he manor house of Eastry Court in Kent mainly dates from the 18th century, although the building incorporates fragments from a property built on the same site in the late 13th century. The manor of Eastry belonged to the monastery of Canterbury Cathedral in Anglo-Saxon times, before the Norman Conquest; the manor house also belonged to the monastery in the medieval era. Following the dissolution of the monasteries the house and manor passed to the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury, and the house was leased to Sir Christopher Nevinson, the right-hand man of the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer.
