A trip to the Denver, Colorado, area yielded an unexpected bounty of classic car museums, ranging from the collection of a noted novelist to a mall’s movie car display. Here are some of the details from that visit.
Cussler Museum
Author Clive Cussler created a series of best-selling thrillers where the hero, Dirk Pitt, was a classic-car collector. In a case of life imitating art, Cussler also collected classic cars. In 2006, he opened the Cussler Museum in Arvada, Colorado. The 100-plus-car collection focuses on concours d’elegance-quality 1920s and 1930s European and American luxury marques. Also featured are 1950s American convertibles and whatever else struck Cussler’s fancy at the time, often influenced by the plot of his latest page-turner.
