OUT 9 JUNE CINEMAS
A hairdressing competition isn’t a typical stylists, Thomas Hardiman’s feature debut isn’t concerned with being typical. The writer/director has great fun with the lurid twists and turns that ensue after a stylist is found dead - and scalped - in a sprawling studio. That this darkly comic tale unfolds in a single take only adds to the exuberance of the viewing experience. You could argue that there’s more style than substance… but that’s hard to begrudge when that style is delivered with such aplomb.
