Bath Waterside & Marina and Caravan Park, Somerset
This is a truly amazing site, so close to the interesting and historic city of Bath. Opposite the entrance to the site is a park and ride, which runs approximately every 15 minutes into the city centre. Alternatively you can take the scenic riverside walk along the River Avon into the centre of Bath, which is only two miles away, watching the boats navigate the river locks and canoes plying the waterway.
The pitches at Bath Waterside and Marina are mainly hardstanding with electric hook-up and of various sizes, which are detailed in the booking system that is available online. The sanitary blocks are of a cabin-type building and could probably do with a few more for the size of the site, but perfectly clean and with lovely hot water.
The chemical toilet point is a bit difficult to use as it is set into the decking area that the sanitary blocks are on and so careful emptying is required to not spill any nasty liquids. Because of this hazard, it is a bit smelly in that area.
There is lovely landscaping with many trees surrounding the park and it is hard to imagine that you are in a very busy city.
Access to the river is through a small gate at the edge of the site and some pitches could potentially overlook the river if the vegetation was trimmed. There is a separate toilet block next to the main reception for boaters, and the marina that is part of the site is further along the river and can be seen from a small bridge. The site is also next to the former Bristol to Bath railway line, which is now a cycleway and walkway.
