DATE 31/03/2023-02/04/2023
And so once again Prog makes its biannual jaunt to the Welsh border for a weekend of prog, frivolity, catching up with good friends and meeting new ones and, largely thanks to Progzilla Radio’s Mike Whitfield, one or two convivial adult beverages as well. There have been some excellent prog events that have sprung up in the last few years, but Winter’s (and Summer’s) End remains the original, and as always, sets the yardstick by which all others are measured.
Friday night kicks off with and his acoustic guitar. Unfortunately it also brings an abundance of audience chatter (this is the bugbear of many a prog fan, so it’s somewhat surprising to hear in The Drill Hall). It evidently has an effect on Sinclair too, who fluffs the lines of an otherwise excellent cover of Peter Gabriel’s , and shows the quality some were clearly missing.
