I enjoyed your article on classic cars [14 February issue], and Emma Balaam’s orange Ford Escort reminded me of an orange 70s Opel Manta I used to own [pictured]. I also had a few Ford Escorts, Cortinas and Minis, all bought for a few hundred pounds each. Today, however, even the most basic examples of these cars are now bought and sold for silly prices. They really don’t make them like that any more, but I wish they did! Stefan Badham, Portsmouth
