First Bombardier Prorail-built TDA tankers sent for scrap

WARD Recycling of Ilkeston has received the first five of 39 TDA tank wagons for disposal, all from long-term store at Long Marston.

Nos. 86953/6/9/61/2, which all arrived by road in the second week of April, will be the first examples of the distinctive battleship grey 90-tonne bogie vehicles to be scrapped.

Sixty of the Class B tankers were constructed in 1993 for carrying fuel oil/diesel by Bombardier Prorail at the former Procor (Charles Roberts) workshops at Horbury, West Yorkshire, and were numbered CAIB 86910-86969, later reprefixed after the VTG takeover.
