The Brando, French Polynesia

Set on the private I2-island atoll of Tetiaroa, The Brando comprises 35 thatched beachfront villas set before a glittering lagoon that's home to a kaleidoscopic array of marine life, including turtles and manta rays. This is the perfect destination for total seclusion and relaxation, but with the location's abundant wildlife comes responsibility, which The Brando has gladly taken on. The property has set its sights on becoming entirely carbon neutral, using seawater air conditioning and via its partnership with Tetiaroa Society. Working to protect marine life, the society implements initiatives that aim to restore the ecosystem, including underwater monitoring, pest control and archaeological mapping. The society's research facility, EcoStation, is also a hub for scientists to delve further into the atoll.
