After five years of work Vincent Uhlig - son of Krautrock musician Wolf-Rüdiger Uhlig (Murphy Blend, Hanuman) unleashes a true monster of an album. Created in part with his father‘s synths, such as the modular systems EMS Synthi AKS and PPG-300, the Mainzer does not pay tribute to Krautrock, but to Industrial. Inspired by bands like Skinny Puppy or Front Line Assembly, „utOpium“ is a densely produced album with many layers, which does not get too hard and fast, but rather focuses on sinister atmospheres and a certain claim. Similar to the debut „Nemesis“, soundtrack-mature beats and percussions, classic dark electro synths and hoarse vocals reign here, which in connection with the apocalyptic music cause states of anxiety.
