THROUGH THE MISTY GLOOM

I’m a new member of the Ferguson Club and I live in Bosley, near Macclesfield, in East Cheshire. I recently acquired a Ferguson TE-20 that was built in 1952, and it will come as no surprise to you to learn that years of grafting in the Cheshire countryside have taken their toll on the old girl.

My plan is to restore the tractor to a working machine once again but, at the same time, preserve as much of her original structure as possible. Perfection isn’t an ambition, and a few well-healed scars – testament to a noble working life – are entirely acceptable in my view.

I can’t be described as an engineer, amateur or professional, but I did build a kit car during the 1990s, and have spent the past year restoring an ancient dumper truck
