hen the remake of the role-playing classic Final Fantasy 7 was announced at the Sony E3 conference in 2015, gamers around the world rejoiced at the chance of exploring the JRPG game that changed the gaming landscape in 1997. But as always, joy soon became trepidation as the fear of the developer messing up this beloved JRPG set in. Fortunately, when the game was initially released in 2020, this fear quickly disappeared as the world of Midgar came to life in stunning 4K resolution, presenting the world and the characters in a brand new light. Even though some of the major story beats were changed to fit into the episodic release of this remake, the core of what made Final Fantasy 7 such a classic was still largely at play. The combat system received a major overhaul and was replaced with a much more action focussed combat system.
