Principles of edge-to-edge quilting

“How do I stitch an edge-to-edge design on my quilt using a home sewing machine?” A common question, often followed by, “I want it to look like a long-arm quilting design”.

This is such a popular topic; I teach weekend workshops on just this subject. Here I will share with you some of the principles of edge-to-edge quilting on your domestic sewing machine and explain the many options you have to quilt your own quilts at home in a quicker way than specific custom-quilting each block.

If you send a quilt to a long-arm quilter for an edge-to-edge design, generally what you will get back is a repeated overall design over the whole quilt. This may vary in density
