Military power struggle scuttles quest for democracy

SUDAN’S HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

Sudan’s capital city of Khartoum has been engulfed in a deadly military battle between the government forces led by the military ruler General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo since the early hours of April 15.

Hundreds of people had been killed while thousands were injured, plunging the country into a humanitarian crisis worsened by the destruction of critical infrastructure including the health and water systems.
