Having cut his teeth on Volkswagens at the tender age of 17, after his dad brought home a VW magazine and then managing to buy a Super Beetle off a neighbour, Mike Lewis ended up getting a job at his local VW shop, Blair & Sons Auto Parts. That lasted for 12 years, so it’s safe to say there’s not much he can’t do when it comes to working on old VWs.
With that amassed knowledge also comes an understanding of just what goes into restoring one. So, when the time came to purchase a car more recently, Mike wisely chose to buy a documented low mileage one (with just 69,000 miles on the clock) that had already been restored to a standard he was happy with. He could then concentrate on the finer details himself.
