arolyn and Henry Terry opened The Apron Museum in Iuka, Mississippi, in 2006. The one-floor While aprons have a wonderfully long history, the 1950s were the heyday for beautiful, designer label aprons covered with tulle, lace, applique, or crocheted trim, according to Carolyn. Those glory years ended abruptly in the 1960s with the women's liberation movement. “Women burned their bras and they threw away their aprons,” Carolyn said. Fortunately, you can still see survivors at The Apron Museum. For more information, or to plan a visit, check out the museum's Facebook page, , or call 662-279-2390.
