HYBRID FERRY CONVERSIONS NY Waterway, which operates a network of passenger-only ferry services in the New York City area and along the Hudson River, is to convert four of the older ferries in its 32-vessel fleet from diesel power to battery hybrid power after receiving a $7.3 million grant from the US government.

BOB BARKER SCRAPPED The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s ‘research vessel’ Bob Barker has been scrapped in India after 13 years of relentlessly tracking down illegal fishing and whaling vessels around the world. Ironically, the ship had been built as the Norwegian whaling vessel Pol XIV in 1950, but came under the Society’s ownership in 2009 following a monetary gift from its namesake, Bob Barker, longtime host of the US gameshow ‘The Price is Right’.
