WILLIAM JAMES 1771-1837 - TRUE ‘FATHER OF THE RAILWAY’?

I must admit that I never took much interest in eariy railway history. I went to the S&D Cavalcade at Shildon in 1975 and I’ve always been fascinated by those paintings of the Stockton & Darlington and the Liverpool & Manchester but that’s it. I’ve never studied early railway history in any great detail
