One of my best friends is Den Davis, official historian of The Jam and a true scooter enthusiast. As is so often the case when we get together the subject turned to scooters; on this occasion a few beers sent us off on the topic of dealer specials and factory customs. Before long we were heading off on a tangent to Mini’s signature editions and then back to Vespa’s collaborations with Sean Wotherspoon and the like. Out of the alcohol-induced fog an idea emerged; what if we could do something along those lines with contacts Den had? When the hangovers subsided Den chatted with Paul Weller’s sister Nicky and Steve Cradock’s name appeared.
