ROAD TRIP DANS LA SOMME
In recent years I’d been to Northern France a number of times with my local Land Rover club; I’d organised and booked the routes and accommodation and had got to know my way around the various historical First and Second World War sites in France and Belgium. In 2019/20, I did a 60-night road trip in my Land Rover, circumnavigating the Iberian Peninsula, then through the Pyrenees, up the west coast of France and on to Normandy and Flanders before getting back to the UK by Eurotunnel. I’d shown some of the photos to my fellow members of Birkenhead Cloud 9 Scooter Club and this created some interest from members – enough to make me think about organising a scooter ride to Northern France.
I got to work and built up a framework of places to go, accommodation etc and put it to the members. The end result was that six of us ended up heading off on August 25, 2022. The plan was to spend 10 nights away and I hoped the group would enjoy what I’d arranged for them.
