Classic cars can be big business, and even I’ve managed to scrape a living out of photographing and writing about them. We love a classic, whether it be spotted on a TV programme, as part of a classic car display at a local event or in the pages of such illustrious publications as the very one you’re holding now. Of course, there’s a whole set of industries taking advantage of our fascination with old cars. There are people who will sell you new parts, old parts and new/ old parts. There are even people who will seek out and buy a classic of your choice on your behalf. If you’re not in the position to own one yourself, there are plenty of entertaining opportunities on the telly to get your fix of classic motoring. Many of these programmes will help you understand just what is involved in buying a classic and give you a better understanding of the restoration process.
