After years out of the spotlight, M83 is exciting fans with both a new album, Fantasy, and tour. But Anthony Gonzalez, the Grammy-nominated indie-electronic band's primary songwriter, has mixed emotions. On rousing Fantasy key track “Amnesia,” he sings: “I believe in the darkness, it's just a sound/I'm in love with some sadness, it's just a sound.”

“There's not a lot of optimism in those lyrics,” Gonzalez admits. “And the need for escapism is also very present on the album.
