MUG AND BEAKER – MADE FROM A BISQUE MOULD

YOU WILL NEED:

The bisque mould made in project 2

Clay of choice, earthenware or stoneware – white clay is best for clarity of decoration

Rolling pin, 4-5mm thick roller guides, plastic sheet

General ribs and tools

Underglaze in a colour of choice plus a fine-tipped brush for application

Transparent or coloured transparent glaze

A BASIC MUG

Prepare a block of clay large enough to fill your mould, with a little spare, once rolled out.

Working on the plastic sheet, reduce the bulk of the clay by beating it with the side of your rolling pin. Work in measured, even strokes from one side of the clay to the other, to avoid making deep grooves in the surface.

Roll out the clay between the roller guides. You
