A wobbly start with her inlaid tiles seemed to knock Caitlin’s confidence, and despite coming second in the spot test, she never really recovered and was the last potter to leave in the heats.
Was the set as you thought it would be from seeing the previous series?
Seeing the set with my own eyes made me realise how much smaller it appeared in real life compared to seeing it on TV in the previous series, yet at the same time, how much taller the desks were compared to me. I made good use of a stepping block to bring me up to a level height with the other potters!
When did you start pottery? Covid had just hit, and life had drastically changed for everyone when I started to learn pottery from my dad just before my 21st birthday. It felt like, for the first time in my life, I wasn’t sure what I was to do with my life when exams were cancelled, and university stopped for six months. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn such an amazing skill from my dad during this time with equipment that even my late grandad had used.
Which do you prefer, hand building or throwing – or both?
My favoured technique at the moment is throwing. This is how I was introduced to pottery and what my dad was good at. It has been a great therapeutic experience and allows me to feel like I can relinquish all stresses that day and just get stuck in. But, I am still at the beginning of my pottery experience and
