ADAM DEFLECTS GUNN SHOT IN OPENER

Jonny Adam celebrated his 100th British GT start with thrilling victory alongside James Cottingham in their 2 Seas Motorsport 4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Oulton Park’s opener holding off Ross Gunn’s Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage in worsening conditions.

The 2 Seas Mercedes was in a net lead throughout, with Cottingham taking charge from pole. But the fight for victory went down to the final corner as fresh rain arrived late on.

Gunn – who had passed Marcus Clutton’s Enduro McLaren for second earlier that lap – charged in on Adam and got alongside on the outside of the final turn, but in the slick surface both slid wide.

Adam though had enough momentum to hang on in first ahead of his former team. It also was Am driver Cottingham’s first British GT win.
