The Oppo Find N2 Flip is the firm’s first folding phone to hit the UK. Unusually, it uses the clamshell format, which we’ve previously seen on only a handful of phones, most notably Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.

Indeed, the N2 Flip feels as if it was designed to go head to head with the Z Flip4 (see issue 337, p72). For a start, Oppo comes out swinging with a considerably lower price: a Flip4 with the same 256GB of storage will cost you £1,059, and the 128GB Samsung model comes in at £999.

Slick engineering

Oppo also outdoes Samsung when it comes to the key design feature of a folding phone: the hinge. The Find N2 Flip introduces Oppo’s “Flexion Hinge” mechanism, which uses a system of cams to provide a smooth but solid movement when you fold the phone open and shut.
